Article (Long been resolved) on Windows Vista Slogans

I am reading this post on Windows Vista Slogans about his slogan of Windows Vista and this is my response:

* The computer model said it was bug free (though the computer model kept crashing since it was running on Vista). Long been resolved

* If it ain’t broke, add tons of pointless features until it is. Don’t blame your ignorance on the OS.

* Get the full potential out of your computer! (in that it will be using all its memory and processing power constantly, even when just displaying a text file) I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on a Netbook, Lenovo S10 and works fine.

* If you downgrade to XP, you’re eventually going to miss those translucent titlebars. Definitely.

* Yeah it sucks, but Macs are for communists and homosexuals, so what are you going to do? ???

* Trade speed and reliability for some neat photo editing features you’ll probably never use. Again, I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on a Netbook, Lenovo S10 and works fine.

* Incompatibility with your old software and hardware is just motivation to try new things! Long been resolved.

* You pretty much have to buy it when you purchase a new computer, so we don’t even really need a slogan. :)

Why I am Positive for Windows 7 this Coming January 2009

Microsoft looks on target on Windows 7 as they have announced that a series of MSDN Developer conference starting December until mid-February would be receiving copies of Windows 7 Beta 1 DVD in the mail.

They have also announced that the final version of Windows 7 may be out by the end of 2009 or early 2010. Given that Windows 7 doesn’t have the gigantic leap we have seen from Windows XP to Windows Vista, we can be positive that Windows 7 would hit it’s mark.

Major changes in Windows 7 include better UAC management and control, touch screen capabilities, etc. These changes, however welcomed, seems too little for a next version of Windows.

Eclipse Taking a Stab at Windows Vista

Eclipse development platform has this on their roadmap:

Approximately 85% of Eclipse download requests are for the Windows OS. With the Vista release there are a number of efforts to port Windows applications. This presents an opportunity for organizations who will take the opportunity to migrate to the more ubiquitous and portable Eclipse platform. In order to leverage the opportunity as much as Vista, it is essential that relevant Eclipse projects support and leverage VISTA. For example, Avalon APIs need to be implemented in SWT.

Vista will be important as both a platform used by developers, as well as one to which the resultant applications and/or products will be deployed.

Longhorn represents the server implementation of Vista. Given Eclipse’s ongoing use in the development of enterprise software, support for use of the Eclipse platform is desirable.

Microsoft is aware of this and even support the development of Eclipse into the Windows Vista and Windows Azure operating systems. Given, that Eclipse can run on multiple platform doesn’t necessarily post a threat to Windows dominance but instead encourage developers to start with Windows Vista and Microsoft doing everything they can to stay there. Shutting them out from Windows could only encourage more enemies and competition.
