How to Guide: Use Built-in Windows Vista Screen Capture

I was looking for a Windows Vista screen capture software and one of the options I had was SnagIt; however, after I used the trial version I was disappointed as it took so much of my process. For some reason, the CPU registered 70-90% all the time and it around four minutes before my screen capture would display in its gallery. With that, I was able to find out that Windows Vista actually had a built-in screen capture utility called Snipping Tool. It is not powerful compared to SnagIt but it definitely did its job with speed and efficiency.

How to Guide: Configure the Windows Vista Power Button to Shut down instead of Sleep Mode Using Command Scripts

Currently, the Windows Vista Power button would go into sleep mode when pushed. I like this default mode; but nonetheless, you can configure it to shut down you Windows Vista computer. Following are the steps:

1. Click on Start menu

2. Type “cmd” in the Windows Vista search input box

3. Click on “cmd” with “Run as administrator” privilege (see image below)

How to Guide: Customize the Number of Recent Items Shown in Windows Vista Menu

You can customize Windows Vista number of recent items. The default number is 15.

1. Click on Start Menu

2. Type “regedit” in your Windows Vista search bar

3. Right-click on regedit.exe and Click on “Run as administrator” (See image below)
